Tacoma Little Theatre presents the powerful piece FADE, as part of their OFF THE SHELF series, on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7:30pm. The production will be directed by Erin Murray.
When Lucia, a Mexican-born novelist, gets her first TV writing job, she feels a bit out of place on the white male-dominated set. Lucia quickly becomes friends with the only other Latino around, a janitor named Abel. As Abel shares his stories with Lucia, similar plots begin to find their way into the TV scripts that Lucia writes. Fade is a play about class and race within the Latinx community, as well as at large, and how status does not change who you are at your core.

Eartha Quake is a San Francisco native who started as a cashier at the 16th Street Follies in the late ‘60’s. She first set her toe on stage one night for one set when one half of the “Love Dance”, was a no-show. Eartha worked mostly up and down the West Coast, between 1969 to 1979, from L.A. to Alaska, and has performed alongside such dancers as; Camille 2000, Velvet Ice, Viva La Fever, Harlan Fairbanks, Diamond Sapphire, Phonda Peters, and Eartha’s own sister; Dee Dee Love.
Eartha says, “I come from a long line of hussy’s, grandma Sylvia and her sister Ethel were both Ziegfeld girls; my own mother ran the lights and the tape machine at the Downtown Theater in Seattle, and she even took a stage name for herself so as not to feel left out...Dolly Lamour and her rhinestone radio.”

Tacoma Little Theatre presents an evening of one acts for the first OFF THE SHELF of their 98th Season, on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 7:30pm. The production will be directed by Chris Serface.
Lemonade introduces us to a pair of Peoria matrons who seek respite from the doldrums of middle age by selling spiked lemonade to highway travelers and trading tales; Second Chance tells the story of a widow who has decided to begin a new life in the theatre and her married neighbor who tries to put a damper on her aspirations; and The Cat Connection which takes us to a park, where two older women have little in common—except they feed the same cat.
All three stories bring together the theatrical powerhouse of Sharry O’Hare and Carol Richmond, reuniting on the TLT stage for the first time since they were in Auntie Mame.

Tacoma Little Theatre is holding auditions for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, directed by Lexi Barnett with musical direction by Leischen Moore.
Auditions will be held Sunday, January 7th and Monday, January 8th at Tacoma Little Theatre. Audition appointments will be set between the times of 6:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday and 7:00pm-10:00pm on Monday. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, January 9th.
It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end of the turbulent '60s, should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge, and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.
Please prepare a song of 32 bars in the style of the piece to showcase your acting and vocal abilities. This musical audition will be used to evaluate both your voice and acting abilities. All roles are available and all ethnicities are welcome to audition.

Jesus Christ
Called both the “Son of God” “King of the Jews.” Leads 12 apostles. Seeking a strong, soulful presence who can truly hold their own on stage but is also generous of energy. Jesus has to walk a path no one understands and must fight to maintain trajectory against great external and internal obstacles.
Judas Iscariot
One of the 12 apostles. A good person. Close to JC. Perhaps the closest. Socially conscious. Tries to “walk the talk.” Willing to do what it takes to affect the change he feels is right.
Mary Magdalene
Mary is/was a prostitute who now follows Jesus. She struggles to contain and define the love that is between them.
Pontius Pilate
Pilate is the Governor of Judea. He is able to see the bigger picture and does not wish to become involved in the condemning of Jesus but he struggles to keep his feet under him as the stream becomes a river and takes his place in the story almost against his will. He is a strong intelligent leader. He is capable of violence but there is a spark of compassion and conscience as well. A complex man.
Simon Zealotes
One of the 12 apostles. Simon feels Jesus should use his momentum in leadership to fight Rome and gain freedom for the Jews.
Peter
One of the 12 apostles. Peter denies knowing Jesus despite his protestations when Jesus tells him this will come to pass.
Caiaphas
High priest of Jerusalem who has Jesus brought to Pilate to ask for Jesus’ execution. See Jesus as a threat to the nation.
Annas
Priest under Caiaphas who also sees Jesus as a threat that must be handled.
Herod Antipas
King of Galilee. Herod is connected to the execution of John the Baptist and accounts of him suggest he was susceptible to sexual manipulation. Christ is brought to Herod when Pilate at first denies it is in his jurisdiction to condemn him.

Tacoma Little Theatre welcomes the community to join us at our special Gala and Silent Auction celebrating our 98th Season. This special fund raising event will be filled with fine wine, fine hors d’oeuvres, and fine entertainment.
The evening will begin with a social hour and then move into the auditorium where staff and board members will present a sneak peek of each of the seven shows in our 98th season which include: The Underpants, Dracula, Miracle on 34th Street, Of Mice and Men, Gypsy, Exit Laughing, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Throughout the course of the evening attendees will be bidding on silent auction items and enjoying musical entertainment from local performers.

The renowned comic actor and author of Picasso at the Lapine Agile provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Maske, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise's bloomers fall down in public. Though she pulls them up quickly, he thinks the incident will cost him his job as a government clerk. Louise's momentary display does not result in the feared scandal but it does attract two infatuated men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home. Oblivious of their amorous objectives, Theo splits the room between them, happy to collect rent from both the foppish poet and the whiny hypochondriac.

By chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy's. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy's customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for. Seen as deluded and dangerous by Macy's vocational counselor, who plots to have Kris committed to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl's belief in Santa. In a dramatic decision, the court confirms Kris as the true Santa, allowing Susan and countless other children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.
Please prepare a contemporary monologue in the style of the piece. Roles are available for men, women, and children, and all ethnicities are welcome to audition.
