Auditions for RUMORS

Tacoma Little Theatre is holding auditions for its production of Rumors, by Neil Simon, and directed by Erin Chanfrau.

Auditions will be held Sunday, July 9th and Monday, July 10th at Tacoma Little Theatre. Audition appointments will be set between the times of 6:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday and 7:00pm-10:00pm on Monday. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, July 12th.

Rumors is an uproariously hilarious comedy about lies, deceit and rumors. At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the deputy mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

Please prepare a comedic monologue in the style of the piece.  Roles are available for 5 men/5 women and all ethnicities are welcome to audition.  Roles are: Ken & Chris Gorman, Claire & Lenny Ganz, Ernie & Cookie Cusack, Glenn & Cassie Cooper, Officer Welch, and Officer Pudney

To reserve an audition time, email tlt@tacomalittletheatre.com, or call our Box Office at (253) 272-2281. Please provide: your name, phone number, email address, preferred audition time, and playable age.

Once cast, RUMORS will run from Friday, September 15, 2017 to Sunday, October 1, 2017.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Chris Gorman (Female): Tense publishing lawyer trying to kick the cigarette habit; a bundle of nerves gamely trying to cope with the ever increasing stress of the situation with wisecracks, lying, and alcohol.

Ken Gorman (Male): A lawyer fiercely protective of his client and friend, Charley; his early arrival at the party puts him at the heart of the frantic attempts to control the situation.

Claire Ganz (Female): Lenny’s high-society, acid-tongued wife who seems to be in on the latest rumors; does her level best to keep up with the goings on.

Lenny Ganz (Male): A short-tempered accountant with a whiplash injury; the poor, put-upon guy just isn’t having a good day, even before the party starts.

Cookie Cusack (Female): A loopy, yet amiable, TV cooking show host, who’s having major back spasms; very quirky and often the last to grasp what is going on.

Ernie Cusack (Male): A laid-back and clueless psychologist, comfortable in his own skin.

Cassie Cooper (Female): A high-maintenance trophy wife, vain and insecure, convinced her husband is having at least one affair.

Glen Cooper (Male): A self-protective, somewhat exasperated, “aspiring” state senator.

Officer Welch (Male): No-nonsense and not easily tricked police officer; seen and heard it all

Officer Pudney (Female): Welch’s younger partner

SUNDAY AT 3:00PM

Presented at The Social Bar and Grill

Tickets: $50.00 Click here to purchase

Tacoma Little Theatre invites you to join some of Tacoma’s finest actors for an evening of dinner, mystery, and murder presented at and with food by The Social Bar and Grill.

Dr. Pepper is searching for his wife.  She was supposed to meet him at the mystery event.  He asks everyone if they’ve seen her and leaves her messages with audience members.  Obviously, he is very worried.  He no sooner leaves than Mrs. Pepper arrives.  And arrives. And arrives.  Three women claim to be Mrs. Pepper.  It would be very easy to identify the real one -- if only Dr. Pepper was still alive to tell us.  Double (or is it triple?) jeopardy may allow a murderess to get away with murder.

Dinner includes: Appetizer, Salad, Main Entrée (Meat, Chicken, Vegetarian/Gluten Free) & Dessert.  Coffee, Tea, Water and Soda are included, and alcohol is available for purchase at the bar or from your server.

THE DEATH OF DR. PEPPER will run May 11-14, 2017.  Thursday-Saturday performances will begin at 7:30pm, and the Sunday performance will begin at 3:00pm.  The event is held at The Social Bar and Grill, 1715 Dock Street, Tacoma, WA.  RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

Tickets are $50.00 per person (includes dinner and show) and may be purchased by clicking here, or by calling our Box Office at (253) 272-2281.

MEASURE FOR MEASURE - An Off the Shelf reading

Measure.png

Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 7:30pm

Tacoma Little Theatre's Off the Shelf program presents a workshop performance of Measure for Measure, a drama by William Shakespeare, adapted and directed by Christian Carvajal and read by a "who's who" list of South Sound thespians.  This production will play Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 7:30pm.

The Bard's poetic language has been preserved, with only a few outdated words swapped for modern synonyms. Written around the same time as Othello and King Lear, Measure for Measure has long been regarded as a "problem play," in that its conclusion seems to lack the justice its heroine demands. ("Some rise by sin," Lord Escalus observes, "and some by virtue fall.") The rise of the #MeToo movement makes it painfully clear, however: In the real world, justice for women is an ideal our civilization seldom achieves. A play Shakespeare wrote over 400 years ago can only now be appreciated as his most trenchant commentary on our quest for sociopolitical equality.

Measure for Measure features the talents of: Andrew Fry, John Pratt, Andrew Gordon, Xander Layden, Jed Slaughter, Gabriel McClelland, Amanda Stevens, Drew Doyle, Mason Quinn, Chris Serface, Robert McConkey, Cassie Jo Fastabend, Silva Goetz, James Wrede, Jess Allan, and Kathryn Philbrook.

Tickets for the January 31, 2019 performance at 7:30pm are $10.00 for non TLT Members, and FREE for those who are members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.tacomalittletheatre.com, or by calling our Box Office at (253) 272-2281.

TLT's OFF THE SHELF

We know that there is a tremendous amount of wonderful theatre that deserves to be heard but sometimes just doesn’t get an opportunity. With “Off the Shelf”, local directors and actors will be bringing some scripts to life that we hope you will find entertaining, challenging and educational to our stage. We hope that you’ll sit back and enjoy an evening of theatre. You never know, you might see one of these shows on our mainstage in the future.

But now the Frudee brothers, Doodie and Rudy, and their distant cousin, Judy, have made an amazing discovery, and they know they'll make a big splash with it in the wine world. Doodie's wife, Trudy, will do anything to help her husband, even if it leaves an unpleasant aftertaste, while Rudy's wife, Prudy, doesn't want to stain her reputation with a secret she'd rather keep to herself. Enjoy some wine-tasting and learn a little bit about wine, but be careful, someone will soon be two sheets under!

SECOND SAMUEL - FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 2017 AT 7:30PM
All Tickets: $10.00

Tacoma Little Theatre is honored to be representing Washington State at the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Regional Festival in Boise, Idaho with their performance of last season’s hit, Second Samuel, written by Pamela Parker, and directed by Chris Serface.

It was a simpler time in the late 1940’s, especially in South Georgia in a sleepy little town called Second Samuel. The Great Depression was quickly fading into memory, the war had been won, and "Give 'em Hell Harry" was still president. Folks in Second Samuel were ready for things to settle down and get back to normal. Except—this was the summer Miss Gertrude passed away, and deep dark secrets were about to be revealed. Nobody could have imagined how the death of one sweet little old lady would turn the entire town upside down.  Would anything ever be normal again?

This production features Aaron Mohs-Hale (B Flat), Kerry Bringman (Frisky), Jermaine Lindsay (US), Bob Yount (Mansel), Tom Birkeland (Mr. Mozel), Diana George (Omaha), Jill Heinecke (Jimmy Deeanne), Neicie Packer (Marcela), Megan Saunders (Ruby), Michael Dresdner (Doc), and Marc Carvajal (June).

SECOND SAMUEL will present a special public performance prior to the festival, on Tuesday, March 28th at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $10.00 per seat for these special performances and they will be held at Tacoma Little Theatre. Tickets may be purchased online at www.tacomalittletheatre.com, or by calling our Box Office at (253) 272-2281.

THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG - An Off the Shelf reading

sisters.png

Tacoma Little Theatre presents Wendy Wasserstein’s, The Sisters Rosensweig, directed by Victoria Webb.  This production will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7:30pm.

Sara Goode is about to celebrate her fifty-fourth birthday, and she isn't exactly too happy about it. Firmly ensconced in her lovely London home, she leads a quiet, almost cold, expatriate life with her daughter, Tess. For the birthday celebration, her two sisters, Gorgeous Teitelbaum (Dr. Gorgeous, loving housewife and mother, of Newton, MA, who has her own call-in radio advice program and hopes to make the leap to TV), and Pfeni Rosensweig (peripatetic third-world travel writer, alas, unmarried), are expected to arrive at any moment. As if this weren't causing Sara enough stress, Mervyn Kant shows up at her door, and she doesn't even know the man, who, at first sight, is instantly smitten with her. Mervyn is a furrier, and a friend of Geoffrey's, the on-again, off-again, bi-sexual lover of Pfeni. After her sisters arrive for the celebration, Tess, and her boyfriend, Tom, turn up and advise her that they're planning on rushing off to his ancestral Lithuania for reasons of political protest. Next to arrive is Nicholas, the stuffy Brit whom Sara has been "seeing" although he seems somewhat anti-Semitic. All of this adds up to a rather interesting evening, which leads to unexpected romance, suspected partings, recriminations, reconciliations and, above all, newfound love and acceptance.

Featuring the talents of: Scott Pinkston (Nicholas Pym), Kait Mahoney (Tess Goode), Connie Murray (Sara Goode), Jed Slaughter (Geoffrey Duncan), John Murray (Mervyn Kant), Deya Ozburn (Pheni Rosensweig), Dylan Twiner (Tom Valiunus), and Victoria Webb (Gorgeous Teitelbaum).

Tickets for the January 25, 2018 performance at 7:30pm are $10.00 for non TLT Members, and FREE for those who are members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.tacomalittletheatre.com, or by calling our Box Office at (253) 272-2281.

THE VETERANS DAY PROJECT

November 16-18, 2018
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AT 7:30PM
SUNDAY AT 2:00PM

Tacoma Little Theatre presents a special part of its 100th Anniversary Season by honoring our Veterans and the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day with The Veterans Day Project.

Created and directed by Beau M.K. Prichard, The Veterans Day Project is the culmination of ten years of work involving almost thirty actors, a half-dozen writers, and consultations with a number of veterans. It tells the stories of American combatants over the last hundred years, via letters written home. In private words directed at home front loved ones, this play is told in the words of the airmen, sailors, soldiers, and Marines as they share their personal wartime experiences. These letters are based on historical people and events, but the characters on stage are fictional amalgams, rather than strictly factual portrayals.

Please note that violence is not portrayed on stage in this show, but it is discussed frankly and sometimes explicitly, along with some other strong language. The show also includes one loud sound effect. It is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Tacoma Little Theatre’s production of The Veterans Day Project features: Kaleb Dillard, Cassie Jo Fastabend, Beth Lazarou, Moses Olson, Kevin Pitman, Helen Roundhill, Mason Quinn, Corey Spruill, Jacob Tice, and Nathaniel Walker, with Tom Stewart and Scott C. Brown.

The Veterans Day Project will run Friday, November 16, through Sunday, November 18, 2018. Friday and Saturday showings are at 7:30pm and Sunday is at 2:00pm.

Tickets are $15.00 per person or FREE for Veterans. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here, or by calling our Box Office at (253) 272-2281.
