Among the classic of contemporary American drama, the story centers around Maggie and her husband Brick as Brick’s family gathers in their plantation home to celebrate the hospital release and birthday of his father, Big Daddy. As the play wrestles with the issues of alcoholism, fidelity, greed, terminal illness and sexuality, ultimately Brick learns his true feelings for his father and his wife, and Maggie’s ingenuity triumphs over the destructive and acquisitive plans of her conniving in-laws.

Suitable for ages 14 and up. (adult themes and language)

“There is, indeed, no one moment in the evening when the stinging accuracy of Mr. Williams’ ear for human speech is not compellingly in evidence… Mr. Williams is the man of our time who comes closest to hurling the actual blood and bone of life onto the stage”
