One of Coward’s best plays, this smash comedy hit of both London and Broadway stages continues to provide a full evening of laughs after 67 years! The ingenious plot tells how novelist Charles Condomine invites a medium to his home for research, only to have her summon his first wife Elvira back from the dead – to the dismay of his current wife, Ruth. Elvira’s attempts to bring Charles to the “other side” to be with her backfire and Ruth accidentally takes the fatal automobile ride, proving that, in some cases, not even after death do we part! How Charles manages to free himself from his two ghostly wives makes this, as Coward described it, “an improbable farce” in the first degree!

Suitable for ages 10 and up (Adult situations)

“There can have been few funnier situations in the history of comedy than this of a man caught between a bossy sexless wife and a gloriously sexy one… who he can’t touch. As always with Noel Coward, the joy is in the dialogue, which remains utterly convincing and very funny.”
