TRIPLE THREAT ACADEMY

Are you…

  • Interested in Theatre as a career or a form of artistic express?
  • Looking for new and fresh sources of artistic instruction?
  • Eager to find like-minded people to discuss and learn with?
  • Wanting to learn new techniques and raise the odds of getting the roles you long for?
  • Have a desire to reach into history and learn how famous actors from a variety of eras and from a wide range of shows worked to create what we strive to accomplish on stage and in film today?

Tacoma Little Theatre’s Triple Threat Academy (TTA) is currently in its 3rd successful season of classes and workshops for actors striving to raise the bar in their theatrical journey.  Students meet every Saturday to grow their craft by learning a variety of theatrical skills, personal and professional disciplines and develop life-long friendships.  Through the use of film study, class exercises, one-on-one instruction, classmate evaluation, field trips and knowledge gained from the very best experts in the “business” TTA members receive an unparallel education for Theatrical Art and life.

TTA members have opportunities to perform brief showcases prior to TLT’s main stage, second stage productions and summer programs.  Every June of each TTA season there is a performance showcasing every member’s matured talent.  There simply is no better way to improve and explore your artistic potential!

What students are saying:

“There is not another place where you could find such loving people.  Many of these students and I have known each other for years and they are so supportive in everything I do.  I mean each one of us here has such big personalities and yet we all fit together.  We have become a family – noisy, comical, loud, and sometimes an embarrassment to be with, but we are a family.  Tacoma Little Theatre and TTA have become my home away from home.” – Anna Laura Kastima, 14

“TTA helped me in my theatrical endeavors by helping me become comfortable in my own skin.  I still have my shaky moments, but for the most part I am permitted to express myself without being embarrassed.” – Sarahann Rickner, 18

Act 2, SCENE 1

Have you been considering joining Triple Threat Academy? (TTA)  Do you wonder what it is about?  Well, now is your chance to experience a taste of it over an 8-week session.  This session is a rare opportunity!  New students and current members of TTA have the opportunity to take this class without membership requirement.  Very soon there will be a prerequisite of at least two months of TTA classes in order to take these fabulous 8-week sessions. (Yes, more to come with rotating themes and much-admired instructors in the future) The main focus of this class is enticing and intense scene work with an acclaimed director who has spent more than 30 years in professional theatre with over 250 productions to his credit and a professional Actress who has been in the industry in a number of capacities.  This is a unique opportunity to work closely with Tacoma Little Theatre’s Artist Director, David Duvall and the Educational Director, Casi Wilkerson.  Young Performers Institute highly encourages TTA members to attend this class (in addition to their Saturday class) to grow in a new way.  In fact, if you are currently a member of TTA you are invited to take this 8-week session at half the tuition.  This is an excellent outlet for TTA members and new students to put their studied theatrical skills in motion towards a fun final showcase.  This class will conclude with a final performance for family and friends on May 13th.
