Welcome to Summer Stock!
What is summer stock? (Definition): Summer Stock is theatre companies that operate in regional areas during the summer months, and who produce an intensive season of plays.
This 6-week Summer Stock camp is created specifically for ages 15-20 and is guaranteed to grow theatrical skills! During this fast-paced, exhilarating experience students will have a 6-week rehearsal/performance period. Students will attend rehearsal from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday and simultaneously perform three different shows during the final weeks of camp. Students will have an opportunity to stretch themselves in a variety of areas such as dancing and singing in ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE, a Beatles Musical Revue; learn the technical rhythm and natural approach through William Shakespeare’s AS YOU LIKE IT, and dive into a touching and at other times wryly humorous show called LOVE, DEATH AND THE PROM.
Summer Stock thrives through an incredible team of talented experts and is directed by two accomplished directors with more than 30 years in professional theatre and over 250 production credits together.
Summer Stock is something you will never forget!! Spend 6 intensive weeks of your summer on a theatrical adventure that is guaranteed to mature your technical skills, cultivate strong friendships, gain you valuable knowledge from experts in the industry and allow you to be a part of three exciting productions!!
Details about the 3 shows:
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
(A Tribute to The Beatles -Musical Revue)
No matter your age or generation everyone can recall the screams of exhilaration that surrounded THE BEATLES and the legacy they left behind. Who can forget the amazing songs written by Paul McCartney & John Lennon? Join us as we take a magical musical tour through such unforgettable songs as Eleanor Rigby, Get Back, Let It Be, Yesterday and so many more. This marked a musical era and is still appreciated and impacts the music of today. In 2007, Sony Pictures Entertainment released Columbia Pictures ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. The entire movie soundtrack contains songs of The Beatles. The Beatles music has and will remain with us throughout history. In fact, the well known album Sergeant Pepper celebrates its 40th anniversary this year!
Students will perform this glorious 60 minute musical revue in a variety of summer festivals and park tours the week of July 28th – August 2nd.

AS YOU LIKE IT
(By William Shakespeare)
Rosalind, the daughter of Duke Senior (the banished duke), is raised at the court of Duke Frederick (who is younger brother to Duke Senior and took over his dukedom), with her cousin Celia (daughter to Duke Frederick). She falls in love with a young man named Orlando, but before she can even think twice about it, she is banished by Duke Frederick, who threatens death if she comes near the court again. Celia, being Rosalind's best friend, goes with Rosalind (who is disguised as a boy, Ganymede) and Touchstone, the court's fool, to the forest of Arden. Upon their arrival in the forest, they happen upon Orlando and his manservant, who are fleeing the wrath of Orlando's eldest brother. What follows is an elaborate scheme devised by the cross-dressing Rosalind to find out the verity of Orlando's supposed passion for her, and to further capture his heart, through the witty and mischievous façade of Ganymede.
Students will perform this classic in a variety of summer festivals and park tours the week of August 4th – 9th.
LOVE, DEATH, AND THE PROM
This wonderful full-length play follows a group of teens through one year of high school. They have to face issues of romantic successes and disappointments, secure and troubled friendships, personal and scholastic expectations, the unexpected death of a classmate, addictions, social out-casting, life goals and life lessons... all falling into the world of Love, Death and, of course, ending with “the Prom.”
Students will perform this “story of life” on stage at Tacoma Little Theatre the week of August 11th – 16th.
