A celebration of Motown
Taught by David Duvall
This premier workshop, featuring Emmy-nominated director, composer and musician David Duval, is a must for all singers and actors looking to improve their musical acting skill. Motor City Musical review is your month long ticket as we dance and sing our way into the musical scene of the 1960's and 1970's .MOTOWN!!! Stevie Wonder, the Temptations, Mary Wells, the Supremes and Marvin Gaye just to name a few of the artists that we will be studying and groovin to as we step back in time to get hip with one of the most powerful eras in Music. This 1 month course will include:
* Basic solo and ensemble singing skills and techniques
* Bringing musical characters to life through lyric interpretation and acting methods
* Selecting songs suitable for auditions
* Developing skills for effectively portraying characters in dramatic monologues
* 2 final showcase performances for family and friends at the University Place Festival days and an evening on the Tacoma Little Theatre Historic Mainstage.
First Session: Getting To Know You lunch, Saturday, July 15th at 1:00 pm. Come prepared to enjoy a light lunch and sing a song for David. All students are required to attend this session.
Regular Classes: Mon - Fri July 17th - Aug 11th, 5:30pm to 9pm
Showcase Performance: Friday, Aug 11th 7-9 pm at Tacoma Little Theatre

Tuition: $250.00
Registration: Class size is very limited and can be registered only through the TLT box office at 272-2281 ext 10, Tues-Sat, 12 noon to 6 pm.
DAVID DUVALL has received 2 Emmy nominations for Best Original Music for Television. Mr. Duvall has 30 years of professional theatre experience with over 250 productions to his credit, working with companies including The Montana Repertory Theatre, Seattle Children's Theatre, Eastside Theatre Company, Tacoma Actor's Guild, Evergreen Theatre Company, Studio East, Tacoma Little Theatre, ACT in Seattle, Western Washington University, Western Theatre Summer Stock and American Revue Theatre. His production/direction credits include: SOUTH PACIFIC, PIPPIN, GREASE, THE BRIGADOON, AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', INTO THE WOODS, and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
