PAUL DUKE
Paul has a love for teaching kids and a love for Shakespeare that he has pursued both as a vocation and an avocation. Receiving his BFA from Baylor University in Theater, he pursued a professional acting career throughout the United States, including New York City, working among other places at the Seattle Repertory Theater, the Oregon Shakespearean Festival, the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, the New York Shakespeare Festival, and in many Off-Off Broadway plays. He was also co-founder and artistic director of Bare Stages (an off-off Broadway theater company).
While working as an actor at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival he also taught theater workshops and classes at the elementary, junior high and high school level. His classes focused on an introduction to basic acting techniques, theater games, improvisation and text/verse analysis. He has taught Argentine Tango in New York City, worked as a camp counselor in Texas, and helped start a creative camp for kids in Tacoma, where he served as the drama, dance, and writing director. His "Saturdays with Shakespeare" workshop this summer in Tacoma is planned to continue in January of 2006. |
